Intermarine, LLC Achieves ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Certifications
HOUSTON (AUG. 22, 2016) – Intermarine, LLC, the global leader in the transport of project, breakbulk and heavylift cargo, has achieved ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications.
ISO 14001 is an internationally agreed standard that sets out the requirements for an environmental management system. OHSAS 18001 is an Occupation Health and Safety Assessment Series for health and safety management systems. Both certifications help organizations to improve their environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste, gaining a competitive advantage and the trust of stakeholders.
“Safe operations and the commitment to QHSE are a customer requirement and an important cornerstone of our company culture,” said Al Stanley, President and CEO. “Taking the time to complete these certifications validates the effectiveness of our health, safety and environmental program and shows Intermarine’s commitment to providing our clients with the safest and most environmentally-friendly cargo carriage solution.”
“The certification process took a year and a half and involved participation from all Intermarine departments,” said HSE Director, Sean Fernley. “Few companies in the breakbulk and project cargo industries hold these certifications – by achieving this standard, we are reinforcing our commitment to safety, to our customers and most importantly to our employees.”
The certifications were overseen internally by Fernley and externally by a Lloyd’s Register representative. Collectively, Intermarine holds the following QHSE certifications:
- ISO 9001 (certified since 2008)
- ISO certification (since 1998)
- ISO 14001
- OHSAS 18001
